Campaign Story
Hey everyone!
I have been given an amazing opportunity to volunteer and experience new things through a non-profit organization, EDventure Int, in Cambodia this summer! I will be gone from June 12-July 5 and am super excited to go!
Throughout the trip I will be helping to teach many of the orphans in the community. These schools provide a safe place for the children whom are eager to learn. The different tasks at the schools include preparing lesson plans, teaching English, leading activities at the local libraries, or just playing with the children in the orphanages. As I help the children with school work and just spend time with them, I hope to see them grow and hopefully develop long lasting bonds with them.
There will also be opportunities to participate in projects that focus on health and sanitation. This is vital because many of the villages suffer a high rate of disease and other effects because of the lack of food and clean water.
I will also be learning a lot about the Cambodian culture and history. We will visit temples, both ancient and recent, with a local guide as they explain their history and significance. There will also be trips and excursions for us to explore and interact with the locals to develop a better understanding of their life and all the hardships that they've been through.
I am really excited to be joining this program. I hope to further develop my leadership skills, and global understanding. While it is a little nerve-wracking, I think that it is important for me to push my boundaries and immerse myself in this new environment.
