Volunteering in Battambang, Cambodia

Hi everyone!

First of all, I’d like to say a huge thank you for taking the time to check out this page.

Over June and July this year, I’m fortunate enough to be going over to Cambodia with a group of other enthusiastic university students from ACU to volunteer in Battambang, a city in northwest Cambodia. As it is still a developing country, the region I will be staying in is poorly funded to deal with some of the issues occurring. Therefore, volunteers such as myself have the amazing opportunity to make a real, lasting impression.

During my stay, I will be living in the community and working alongside the local staff to provide the children, young adults and families of Battambang with basic English classes, offer vocational education and assist with extracurricular activities. The other students and I will be working towards making a positive and long-term impact on the health and wellbeing as well as the standard of living for the individuals there through total support and education. The work we will be doing is a continuous effort towards making a sustainable difference for those who are less fortunate or neglected in the community.

I've put my goal as $1000 (have to aim high!) but any amount, big or small, is so greatly appreciated. The trip is organised by Challenges Abroad Australia but your generous donations will be going towards the FutureSense Foundation and a tiny portion (only if the goal amount is achieved) will be helping me get there! The rest I've been working hard to fund myself. I've provided links for both groups if you or someone you know would like to be involved or get additional information. 

The FutureSense Foundations has a broad spectrum of goals, some of which include improving education, reducing poverty, empowering people living with disabilities and promoting child welfare. The funds raised for the foundation can be invested into projects to improve community centres or school infrastructures or be distributed to aid individuals with tuition fees and help macro-business programs. The support received from volunteers’ time and your donations is invaluable.
