Hello! First of all, thankyou for taking the time to have a read of my volunteering page. I understand that there is always a high number of fundraising happening at any one time but I feel that the programme that I am involved in is a very special one. On the 10th July, I will travel to Dubai and then Colombo in Sri Lanka, ready to learn about the Sri Lankan culture for 2 weeks and then I will arrive in Ambalangoda to volunteer teaching English to the Sri Lankan children. Many of these children do not have the opportunity to learn this universal language and many of them need this knowledge in order to progress and develop outside of the poverty that they are currently in. As you probably know, Sri Lanka is a developing country and the volunteers are essential to the community of Ambalangoda to enhance their job opportunities and future careers. I feel very passionately that all children should have the opportunity to learn and excel in their lives and receive the high-level of teaching that I have within Great Britain. I of course expect to gain a unique and life-changing experience and hope to relay my experiences and knowledge to other potential volunteers to continue this exceptional work within Ambalangoda. I would really appreciate your support in financially assisting me within this vital role and in improving he quality of life of these children. A breakdown of my costings are as follows: Meals, accommodation and transport: £799 Flights: £680 Visa: £20 Insurance: approx £80 Spending money: £500 Total: approximately £2000 Due to their being a travelling element within my time in Sri Lanka I recognise that this would be completely unethical to raise money for this part of my trip. However, I am hoping to raise £30 to assist with flights and meal costs. *** If anyone has any donations, such as: clothes or resources for the school, please let me know and I will arrange for them to be sent over for the children.
