My name's Josh Ca, a Vietnamese currently working in Thailand. I am going on a volunteering trip to Fukushima, Japan through the Service Civil International and ANSN Japan program.
Description: Many kids in Fukushima were forced to stay indoors for the fear of health risks from radioactivity having been released in the air by the nuclear disaster since March 2011. Few years after disaster ANSN started to organize "Fukushima kids camp" to help them gain more confidence, integrate to community, live with nature, exchange experience with international volunteers.
Samegawa, a small village in the forest area, the population is about 5,000, surrounded by rich nature and it locates 75km from the Fukushima nuclear power plant.
Local host Samegawa became chairperson of the executive committee it, and organized it until 2015. They got support from various famous people. Nowadays, they restarted their farming program and weekend program for family and kids camp during long vacation season in his land, Samegawa.
Type of Work: Volunteers will support 2 kids camp during this work camp (03/25-30 and 04/01-03). Main works are playing with kids in mountain area, cooking outdoor foods, taking care of animals etc.. Kids will create activity by themselves too. Volunteers will support their meeting and activities too.
With your help I will gain the potential to hopefully make a positive difference to this special program to those who were surfer from the Fukushima incident and raise the awareness of nuclear power. They only accept 4 volunteers and it took a month for me to apply. I will they money to pay for the air ticket, also buy gift for children, local host and some personal expenses. Thank you very much for your kind support.
