Volunteer Sri Lanka

I will be volunteering in a little fishing town off the coast of Sri Lanka, called Ambalangoda, where I will be teaching English in an after school education programme in communities affected by the Tsunami in 2004. The ability to speak English in Sri Lanka is becoming increasingly important, as the main sources of Sri Lanka’s income come from tourism and migrant workers going to the Middle East. However due to such large classes and a lack of teachers who can speak english fluently, the level of English teaching is limited.
