Volunteer Projects in Bali and Delhi

Hey! I'm currently fundraising for a big volunteering trip for 3 months starting in January.

I will be spending my first 6 weeks in Tabanan, Bali staying in volunteer accommodation and teaching English classes at an elementary school with kids aged 6 to early teens.

The schools that we work with can be overcrowded and staff are usually poorly paid so the presence of an English speaker really benefits the children’s pronunciation and can also help empower local teachers who may be looking for additional assistance with their own education.

I will also he involved in an after school government approved community programme with the older children of the Tabanan community.

Learning English is vital for the people of Bali, as the majority of employment is in tourism and business, despite it being a second language to the Balinese.

My next 4 weeks will be in Faridabad, outside New Delhi in India at a Women Empowerment Project. I will be helping out at a social initiative called the Eco School Empowerment Project providing computer, English and vocational training for young women in the local community, within a slum.

Many women here have limited access to education and employment opportunities. Many women are therefore illiterate and unable to find work. In the project, we will be helping them with increasing their confidence and skills to enable them to find a job, and help them out of poverty.

The sum I am aiming to fundraise is £1350, as this is the total price for these two projects, providing food, accommodation and access to the projects. I am working to earn the costs of flights, visas, vaccinations, insurance and spending money myself, independently from this fundraising.

I am doing a sponsored night time ascent of Tinto hill on 17th November to help my fundraising.
