To my friends and family,
Without the support and love from my friends and family I would not have been able to accomplish half of what I have thus far. Please consider donating to my trip's travel and program expenses & helping me make my two weeks in South Africa even more unforgettable!! Thank you in advance.
As most of you know, I am a doer, go getter, educator and adventure seeker. Looking back at my time abroad in London, I got to work with underprivileged as well as special needs children and it was truly amazing. I saw firsthand how different the socioeconomic and school system was compared to the United States. From my work and learning experiences in London, Binghamton, Long Island and New York City - I am super anxious and proud to start graduate school at Teachers College, Columbia, this fall! However, there is just one minor thing I MUST do before the summer ends and that is....
Fly to Cape Town, South Africa where I will be volunteering for 2 weeks to teach English! I could not be more excited!
WHO? WHAT? WHERE?
I will be traveling to South Africa at the end of August with the International Volunteer HQ Program (IVHQ). “The aim of the Teaching project in South Africa is to provide assistance within public schools in low-income communities in Cape Town, to support struggling students and help ease the workload of teachers within under-resourced classrooms.” I look forward to meeting new people, making a difference in these children’s lives, teaching in another foreign country as well as embracing the culture and beauty of South Africa.
And of course, there will be tons of photos to share!!
