Volunteer Laptop for Charity-work

Worldwide, 358 000 women die during pregnancy and childbirth every year and an estimated 7.6 million children die under the age of five. Emergency complications during pregnancy or childbirth are the leading cause of death for women in Africa. Every year over 250,000 African women die during childbirth owing to complications. Our main focus is to strengthen emergency maternal healthcare in these areas in order to make a dent on the shocking statistic that 80% of maternal deaths worldwide are considered preventable.

The problem:

Fundraising takes time and effort, often involving repetitive, monotonous tasks, like envelope stuffing and internet research. Volunteers are a key part of our charity due to the time they give and work they carry out, which we are not able to pay for. EVERYTHING they achieve is recognised as a gift, and we wouldn't be where we are today without them.

The recession has provided an amazing opportunity to take on bright graduates as interns and provide them with experience in office-work, charity-work and fundraising to help them in their career. We would really love to have a digital media graduate to modernise MCAI and work on comunicating our cause and reaching new donors in a more fun and visual way. The only thing that is stopping us from providing this opportunity is the fact we can't afford to buy a volunteer laptop.
