Volunteer in Morocco

Hi to all friends and family, I will be doing a sponsored climb over the O2 arena on 23/11/14 @ 16.00. This is to raise money for an elective placement for 4 weeks in Morocco in April 2015. I would be greatful for all donations please come along on sunday 23/11/14 too see me over come my fear of heights...... Placement highlights Work together in a group at various projects in and around Marrakesh Teach sport, play games, art and crafts and help at a baby orphanage Get stuck in with painting and decorating and feeding the homeless Live in the historical centre of Marrakesh, a UNESCO world heritage site Some projects offer activities for children living in orphanages. Not all these children have lost parents, they simply have no family to support them. Some of these children have been abandoned entirely to fend for themselves and others have been handed over into the state's care. Unlike most of the babies at the baby home, most of whom will be adopted by loving families, older children struggle to find a new family. Older children also struggle at school and will often under perform their peers. Following regular 1-1 attention and praise from volunteers the children's confidence and life chances are improved. It is difficult to impress on volunteers how important and precious their personal input is. For the children with no families, time spent in the company of friendly adults who pose no threat is invaluable in helping them adjust to the world.
