Hi, I'm Jack Timothy and I will be travelling to Fiji in August with Volunteer Eco Students Abroad (VESA) to help underprivileged children and adults in local villages.
What Does the Volunteer Work Comprise of?
During the trip to Fiji I will be undertaking a number of tasks including:
•Working with local children by teaching them how to speak English and offer other educational benefits such as Mathematics and Physical Education.
•Teaching the local children and adults on the benefits of proper hygiene and sanitation.
•Building better sanitation such as hot showers and flushing toilets.
•Renovating the schools, homes and first-aid areas by building better structures and giving areas a new coat of paint.
•Building water catchments to provide safe and clean drinking water.
•Installing new play areas for the local children for them to play games and socialise.
What do I hope to achieve?
•I aim to improve the lives of the villagers by providing much needed aid.
•I hope to educate the Fijian people and also provide them with a better future.
•Overall the trip will improve the standard of living for the local villagers and allow me to sample a different culture, and hopefully provide me with an unforgettable experience.
