Volunteer at hackathlons as developer, raising money for laptop workstation.

Hello everyone,

I started volunteering, at the age of 7 and still continuing today. Currently I volunteer in Code4Romania (part of Code4All ) for 1 project, which I joined during a hackday in the late of march this year.

What is a hackday in our area? It is a day, where all kinds of developers, testers, requirement engineers and designers, meet in one place and work together for non-profit organizations apps, or certain civic apps that helps the community.

Because this hackdays started to get popular, now a lot of other associations started to do them. For example now on 22 of June there will a MediHackday, full 8 hours on a Saturday, working for an application which will help with donating blood in the community for Tree Hearts association.

I have only a personal computer as a workstation, I can work only from home, which I all ready do. But this one started to get old and I really want to join those hackdays. I am a junior front-end developer (6 months of experience, but keep practicing since 2017 with no faculty-studies, learned only online and at some courses).

In order to participate at thees hackdays I really need a laptop workstation. Why am I doing this fundraising? Because I don't have the money right now, neither in the near future and I really want to participate this year on almost every Saturday doing volunteering for this kinds of applications. All my current funding's go in the family since we a have toddler and it's somehow expensive here.

It does not matter how much money this fundraising will get, the rest I will complete it myself. Why so much money? Because I'm trying to develop with the latest technologies and this will require something good in first place. However, if you consider this as a good action, but you don't want or you don't have money to donate, you can still help by sharing the cause.
