Voluntary teaching in Tanzania

Hi,

In July 2021 I will be embarking on a trip of a lifetime!

I am going to be volunteering as a teacher in a Tanzanian school to hopefully use my current teacher training skills to make a difference to the children. For a few years now I have considered volunteering abroad but it is only now that I have completed my Police training that I have the opportunity to carry it out. The programme I am undertaking will be 6 weeks long however, this means it is going to be expensive financially. I am looking at raising around £1,500. Although I know it will be difficult, I am planning on also doing various sponsorship events to assist with the raising, which I will then send to this 'go get funding' page. However, due to the current climate I hope that you appreciate that it is difficult for me to carry out any sponsorship events. I am currently looking at doing some of the following; The 'four mile every four hours for 24 hours' run challenge, a sponsored swim, Baking deliveries, whilst also carrying out an event with my Cricket Club.

Whilst out in Tanzania I will work in a local school assisting a teacher before I carry out my own lessons to up to 80 children! YES, 80 children in one classroom. As it is an African country you can understand the lack of resources they have along with other essential items that we take for granted on a daily basis. I hope to not only raise the money I need to fund this trip but also enough to provide the school I volunteer at with some much needed money to make a difference to the children's lives. I am also trying to plan an engagement strategy for the final school I am at prior to me going to Tanzania. I hope to use my final placement school class prior to the trip as a 'pen pal' for the children that I will be working with in Tanzania.

The target I have selected should cover most of the trip (flights, visa, the placement in the school, vaccinations etc.)

This is something I have wanted to do for a while now and any donations will make this trip even more possible. It doesn't have to be a huge donation, I will appreciate the time taken and whatever it is you can donate.

I will also be setting up a page nearer to the time to 'blog' everything I do out there, experience. sightseeing etc.
