VOICE IT IN ACTION (VIIA) - The Wash House Program

VOICE IT IN ACTION (VIIA) is a Non-Profit Company founded by Kgothatso Moloto, to curb the heightened violent culture witnessed in South Africa, through innovative campaigns and solutions. We seeks a more harmonized society, to confronting and creating solutions on issues grounded in on and around violence and to raise awareness on violence against Women, Children and even Men.

VOICE IT IN ACTION was formed after the traumatic incident of a kidnapping and eventual murder of Ipeleng Christine Moholane (age 19) in 2015. This was an eye opener to this grave problem faced by many people in the world. In South Africa alone, a girl goes missing or a body is found every day, and this does not affect women and girls, but also men and boys. – Ipeleng will forever be missed.

A SAFER and CLEANER community is possible through combined efforts, we therefore invited all businesses, organisations, property owners, tenants, residents, users, visitors and students in Braamfontein and the neighboring Communities to join us in a collaborative effort to make our neighborhood/s safer and cleaner for everyone. To this end we would call on you to participate, contribute or assist in the VIIAWASH HOUSE PROGRAM. We are also extending this request to the greater community, to assist and support in this program to ensure that we can achieve the set objectives:

  • To Eradicate Homelessness (starting with the Braamfontein Community)
  • To create Skills Development and Professional Development opportunities
  • To create Cleaner and Safer communities
  • To create Employment opportunities

The Wash House Program is aimed at Eradicating Homelessness in our community by providing transitional housing, skills development, counselling, work opportunities, mentor-ship and support to the homeless around Braamfontein and eventually throughout the nation. In order to achieve this, the participation of various entities is required. The 5 main entities include the VIIA Homies (homeless citizens/displaced persons), VIIA Scholars/Ambassadors, Volunteer Agents (VA’s), VIIA Professional Artists (VPA’s) and Partnering Organisations (PO’s). With the main focus being the Homies, all entities stand to benefit from participating, contributing to and supporting this program as well as being part of a greater change in the community.

The Program will allow partnerships with various organisations, assist 100 Homeless People, employ 100 Artists for the project period, enable 100 Volunteer to participate for the project period, and enable 100+ students in high schools to participate as well:

  • PO: PARTNERING ORGANISATIONS – CUSTODIANS FOSTERING CHANGE. Organisations assist with advocating this required change into existence and the lasting impact thereof, while providing the required muscle to assist with the core goal of the Wash House Program which is to Eradication of Homelessness. A little goes a long way and any donations are welcome, however selection of funding package/s will assist in exceeding the goal.
  • VH100: VIIA HOMIES – LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCES. The main focus and drive behind this project is to bring change in the lives of homeless people, considering the astonishing number of homeless citizens in Johannesburg and in South Africa as a whole. Homelessness covers various aspects from human trafficking to joblessness or retrenchments and even negligence. Therefore the strategic elements of the Wash House Program (entities, components and activities) cater to the eradication of the communal program - homelessness.
  • VA100: VIIA VOLUNTEERS – FUTURE CHANGE AGENTS. The Volunteers facilitate activities and provide support for VIIA Wash House Program operations, in the spirit of motivating active volunteerism.
  • VPA100: VIIA PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS – A GAME CHANGER. The artist will play a mentor-ship role to the partnered homeless person, using their artistry to empower themselves, to assist with fundraising and the project’s longevity whilst gaining professional skills within the arts discipline.
  • VS100+: VIIA SCHOLARS – INSPIRING THE FUTURE. Scholars needs to understand the world and their role as active citizens, future leaders and the potentially future homeless. Therefore the Wash House Program includes young minds in the creation of sustainable solutions to eradicating homelessness, for their generation and the generations to come.
