Visit Daddy

Please consider this a means of 'paying it forward' rather than a permanent gift, which we do not require.

"Team Red Head" is how I refer to my boys. They are mostly good boys, and they have asked for something that's impossible for me to refuse - Can we visit Daddy? A simple request, only Daddy is 3 plane rides and 4 hours by road away.

Let me explain..

Twelve months ago we were living together ina  small community in Northern Ontario, Canada (where my husband is from). We were planning to bring the boys up in Australia (where I am from) so they would have better opportunities, and better weather. Unfortunately the community is shrinking and it has become almost impossible to gain full time employment or sell the house or our business.

When the boys were starting school we decided it was time to move, regardless. The boys and I did a kind of reverse 'settling of the West' - moving East to find a new life and sending for the manfolk once we are settled. We were so lucky that the boys love their new life, their new friends and school is ok (haha). We found an affordable place to live near the grandparents that is nice and has friendly neighbours. I am enjoying full time employment and the ammenities life in a city brings (Hello farmers' markets and big grocery shops! Yay that a visit to the mechanic is no longer a day trip!).

Well twelve months is OK for me, but it's a loooong time for little kids. They miss their dad. I don't want to jepardise their financial futures, so we have been budgeting and saving towards this trip. With your support we can manage it sooner, stay longer and begin paying it forward to others being kept apart from their families. I think it is a great lesson for the boys on how to be a good citizen in this world. Thanks for your consideration.
