Vision to Drive

Drikus Burger is a 24 year old self-motivated young man from Worcester, a town in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. He has big dreams and aspirations as well as high hopes for a prosperous future. Unfortunately Drikus was visually challenged since birth and had eye surgery from a young age to remove cataracts. He also suffers from rare eye condition called nystagmus (An involuntary eye movement which may cause the eye to rapidly move from side to side, up and down or in a circle, and may blur vision.)

Nystagmus cannot be cured, but there are several treatments that can help. Normal glasses and contact lenses do not correct nystagmus, although they may help a little and should certainly be worn to correct other sight problems.

A Special type of glasses can however help Drikus qualify for his drivers license which will help him secure a better job and even take up further education and studies. This is Drikus's dream but the glasses are very expensive.

We are hoping to raise enough money to fund these glasses and make Drikus's dreams come true.
