Virtually Foster Hospice “Mars”

Meet Mars – he was never supposed to be hospice. In fact – he had a meet & greet scheduled, he was supposed to be adopted. When his potential forever home came to visit, he showed no interest, in fact, he avoided them at all cost. He patiently waited for them to leave and then continued his couch-time TV viewing.

The next day, something just felt off so foster mom got him to the vet. It turns out he had a tumor in his liver and his Mast Cell was back. It turns out HE knew where he was supposed to be, we just hadn’t realized it. And so, he is home. He is the king of attention – no matter what’s going on he’ll remind foster mom “he comes first”. He’s the first to greet foster mom at the door. He’s a talker and lets everyone knows what he’s thinking. He’s lovingly called, Sir Mars Bars.

PRIMARY DIAGNOSIS: Mast Cell Cancer, Extreme arthritis in Hip/Knees

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? His liver and gallbladder are filled with cancerous tumors and he is on meds to control the growth of them. He is on probiotics and supplements to continue his quality of life for as long as possible. Mars also has issues with his hip joints and pain meds are used to maintain pain-free days.
