Virginia’s Fight Against Endometrial Cancer​​

Hi everyone,

I am Virginia Manalang, 53 years of age from Bocaue Bulacan. I am currently battling with stage 3c Endometrial cancer and here's my brief story.

Back in year 2018, I experienced bleeding which I thought was just my monthly period or part of the menopausal stage, which I ignored but it didn't stop. I went to various specialists but was told that oral medication will help and so I abide. I took all the prescriptions but the bleeding continues. This was how I dealt with it for 2 years. Then came, January 2020, there was one incident when I felt really dizzy and went for a checkup. It was found out that I have an unusually low hemoglobin so I was referred to a specialist in Philippine General Hospital. I went through quite a number of laboratory tests including biopsy which resulted to the diagnosis of Endometrial Cancer.

August 5, 2020, I was supposed to get admitted for my surgery but was diagnosed positive for COVID19 ( I had my swab test done on August 3, 2020). Given such finding, I needed to be quarantined. After 14 days, I went through swab test again and still turned out positive for COVID19. I was in quarantine for 1 month and 14 days and had to bear the pain including the pain brought about by the virus. And eventually, the 3rd test was negative. Praise God!

September 16, I underwent surgery which turned to be successful with the grace of God. But when I went back for check up, they found a lump again which (as per the physician) started while I was undergoing surgery. After which I was told hat I need to go trough chemotherapy to start the process of getting rid of the cancer. I was initially advised 6 sessions of chemotherapy where I had my first session done last October 22. As scared as I was, I managed to handle it despite the weakness I felt physically because I have to keep fighting for my loved ones as my battle against cancer has just started.

Prior to my second session of the chemotherapy, I need to undergo a couple of laboratory tests. And before my 3rd session takes place, I have to get a CT Scan. Having said these, we literally have no idea where to get the money to fund these tests and the next chemotherapy sessions. Not to mention the radiation I also have to undertake eventually so that the healing will prosper.
