children lacking the very basic necessary amenities in human life, this people are in great human need, and you come face to face with such people or family or village and there are many such families, villages, wallowing in such poverty, destitute environment, and we must such in our mission errands. What would you do as a missionary carrying the Gospel in your hands? Do you ignore their nakedness, their needs, plight ,their human condition and continue to preach to them about the gospel of Christ His love, mercy understanding, joy and happiness? Or would you say wait a minute these people need to be clothed their nakedness covered, their ailments treated, they need food to feed in order to nourish their bodies and especially their children. After looking deeply into their situation you might want to help their children go to school and so may be you want to start a school to help these future Orthodox faithful to get education and uplift their standard of living! Think about it then, you would may be try to set up a school and children begin going to school.
really giving much thought to it. However, do we do the same with the
things that we do not equally share
St. John Chrysostom says, “…if money were common and available to all, there would be no opportunity for generosity on the part of the rich and gratitude on the part of the poor.” One could suggest his thought is based solidly on St. Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians where he wrote, “Generosity inspires gratitude, and gratitude inspires generosity. God is generous to us and our generosity, as St. Paul tells us, gives proof of our gratitude towards God” (9:11).
Generosity is defined as “liberality in giving or willingness to give.” God created us in His Image, a very generous gift to each person. How have we expressed our gratitude? Have we given of ourselves and of the blessings He has bestowed on us?!
Jesus Christ calls all His disciples to go to the whole world and make disciples, to convert new faithfuls to Christianity Mtt28: 16-20! Now,when you happen to be a servant of Christ ,a priest on transit as did St Paul in those early Christian days! Then suddenly you come a cross, meet naked
when you feed, clothe, visit the poor, visit the sick, those in
hospital and in prison, He says, you did it for Him! Christ Himself when
He was preaching, His disciples cane to him and told him that the crowd
needed to be send home because they did not have food to feed them. But
Christ sternly told them in no uncertain terms, You need to feed them
yourselves! Now, if we do not look into the challenges needs of the
society we live in and our faithful and the general population, then we
miss the point of message of Christ of freedom, sickness, imprisonment
of this world,, of salvation, of heavenly peace and everlasting joy in
hope of resurrection in a new life! This is the situation we are in
here in Kenya! orphanage where we admit children from very poor
families, destitute and orphaned boys and girls! we do not have enough
food to feed children,
