Viga Children’s Fund

Living in a tiny, quite impoverished village in the Philippines (Viga, Pangasinan) certainly has its challenges, but offers the chance to give back and be appreciated as I have never before experienced.
Seeing what an impact some of the art supplies have made on the girls we take care of, I decided to launch a little, informal, impromptu colouring competition for some of the local children...
It wasn't thought through at all, just a silly idea, so I asked an artist friend of mine to draw something familiar to the kids here and that can be used to colour in. We bought some art supplies to be used by everyone and distributed the pictures among the children.
The response was overwhelming, and a once off entertainment exercise has now become a monthly institution.
Unfortunately everything costs money, and is currently personally funded. With just a little help the sky is the limit, and these kids can be exposed to things they never even dreamed of.
