On June the 25th I will be volunteering in the beautiful location of Vietnam for a total of 4 weeks with PMGY. Within this period my time will be spent living 30 miles from the city Hanoi in the small community of Hai Doung. This area is one which tourists do not explore often so any interaction and help from natives and tourists is highly valued.
During my time here I will be teaching English to the sadly underprivileged children of Hai Doung in their local primary and secondary school. Unfortunately it is usually difficult for children in these areas to gain the decent education and support they required as lack of funding and poverty that surrounds them prevents this. The schools usually contain a limited number of resources including teachers, which as a result causes class sizes to be between 40-50, a very large number! This lack of finance and resources as a consequence prevents the children from gaining a sufficient education and interaction required.
The main aim of this voluntary trip is to help the students to learn English. This as a result can help them break out of the poverty cycle that most, if not all are stuck within. The introduction of English could help the students gain a sustainable future for themselves as well as help develop the surrounding community.
However, although helping deprived children in less economically developed areas is a wonderful thing it doesn’t come without its expenses. By April 25th I need to raise a total of £1,400. This is a large amount but includes all the costs incurred from travel to resources needed to provide for the future generation of Vietnam.
I would be extremely grateful if you could donate towards this wonderful cause. I am not expecting large donations as anything as small as £1 would be a wonderful contribution that can go along way.
Thank you all for your help and time,
