Hello, everyone! My name is Victoria Acosta and I am an 18 year old freshmen student at James Madison University. I worked really hard in high school and even got accepted to all of the colleges that I applied to. I am even the first in my family to attend a four year institution after high school! Well, school begins next month and it's been a challenging year for my family. In February of this year, my dad was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Within two days, he was admitted to the hospital where he began his chemotherapy cycles. Early this June, I donated my bone marrow to him. He is currently in remission and recovering from the transplant! It was emotionally struggling for us all, but the most drastic challenge implemented on us was the downfall of our financial stability. College was unafforable at this point, but we continued to fight with the univeristy to support us. After a long, and tiring battle, I was given loans and few grants. I am truly grateful for the financial support. However, I have realized that I will need to work 2 jobs while studying to become a nurse in order to decrease/prevent any future debt.  I know in my heart that I want to become a registered nurse, or even a nurse practioner for the oncology department! I am afraid that working two jobs and balancing my school work will become far too stressful and possibly lead to me having to leave JMU for a community college.  Please, help me continue on with this journey! I will continute to work hard just like I always have. I want to make my dad proud.

ALL MONEY WILL BE USED TO PAY TUITION
