Hello everyon, My name is vicky Smith I'm a 21 year old girl. I'm a qualified hair dresser. I came to this site hoping to achieve some help. 2 year ago I had a minor operation on my left foot for corral time surgery. All went well during the operation. I was due to have my 4 week check up when my consultant realised that I had an infection on my operation scar. I battled with this infection for a 2 year with lots of operations to put it right. And the beginning of this year nothing else could be done as infection got the better of my foot. So my consultant had to amputate all my toes this was a very hard thing to go through  at such a young age. So having that surgery all went well till I had my 2 week check up and there was another infection. Time went on with more surgery and other medical devices to help but unfortunately this didn't work. In august 2014 I took really poorly and ended up in intensive care cease the infection that had took.hold of the bit of foot I had left had gotten worse. And the infection  went In to my blood stream. So he had to make the dramatic  decision to do a below knee amputation. This was very hard to come to terms with. For me only being 21. Now I'm 5 weeks on after my surgery and everything is going very well. I went to physio last week and seen the prostetic limbs that the nhs give you and was very disappointed with it. I cried I got that much of a shock. So I have been looking at buying my own. These range from 4000 pound plus. So.i was hoping that sharing my storey would help me raise some money to buy  a one that's appropriate for me. With me just being young. And being a girl. I really hope you can help.
