Veteran’s Technology Meetup Group Sponsorship

Over the past two years a group of veterans has worked to create the Dallas-Ft. Worth Linux Apache MySQL PHP (DFW Apache LAMP) technology meetup group. This group helps students, veterans, and all others become skilled in high-tech web design, database administration, software development, and system administration. These are the skills that can provide a veteran or anyone else with great employment opportunities. It also helps greatly those who are laid off to get into job skills that pay well. Right now we have over 240 members. We conduct training sessions and host technology job fairs. Funding would be used to acquire cloud-hosted servers from companies like Bitnami.com and SoftLayer. Professionals from Elance.com would bid on tutoring our members in workshop sessions so that these vets and laid off professionals could become superbly hands-on skilled in the high-demand technical job skills.
