Vet care for Blackie!

Blackie is a young cat that lived in a cat colony behind a main highway in Marietta, GA.  Someone noticed that a small, black cat had a severe injury to her back end.  Unfortunately. since Blackie is feral it was hard to get a good idea of what might be going on. But it was obvious  that she needed immediate care by an amazing veterinarian.   Feral Cat Program of Georgia stepped up and offered help for Blackie.  She was seen by a veterinarian who does a lot of work with feral cats (Dr. Amiri at Steeplechase Veterinary Hospital) and was found to NOT ONLY have a PROLAPSED rectum but her rectum also was infested with maggots and she was covered in caked on feces.  She had to have her rectum stitched back in. cleaned thoroughly of both feces and maggots. Within 2 days Blackie was spotted, trapped, and vetted.  Blackie is currently in a safe place and also receiving medication for her injury.  She will have her rectum rechecked, stitches removed and be spayed on Friday, March 22.  

Feral Cat Program of Georgia aims to TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release/Relocate) feral cats.  TNR offers the feral cats a chance to live out their lives but without contributing to overpopulation.   They also aim to socialize stray and feral cats so that they may be able to transition into a loving home. 

The purpose of this fundraiser is to help reimburse Feral Cat Program of Georgia for the cost of Blackies care and to help raise money (and awareness) of their amazing TNR program.
