I am a vegan chef, cooking class instructor and cookbook author. I am in the process of writing my second vegan cookbook, entitled "Vegan Wanderlust: Your Guide To Being Vegan Anywhere In The World!"
Our little blue planet we call home has 7 continents where one can travel to for Business or Pleasure or for No Reason At All. Whether it’s completely planned down to the second or you have no set plans whatsoever and just take it as you go, even in the most remote locations, I want to be living proof that anyone would be able to find something vegan to eat. In some places, the choices are going to be endless, in others, it might be a challenge, but it is still doable.
My goal is to visit each and every one of these places first hand, so I can get the same experiences that a local does, and understand what it is like to live like a local in their community and know what their local culinary specialties are, even if it is just for a short period of time.
The internet is a wealth of information, but it can't replicate the sensation of actually being there, and it certainly can't give you the experience of what an in-person culinary expedition can provide. Licking your computer screen at home gives an entirely different sensation than satiating over a vegan sorbetto in the heart of Rome. It's just not the same. In order to complete my book properly, I need to visit these places so I have a valid reference point and can spark the Wanderlust in everyone through my (eventually) completed book.
Vegan Wanderlust isn't just a cookbook- it is specifically designed to be a guide to traveling the world as a vegan, with tips and tricks to travel, both in general and as a vegan. Recipes from all over the world are covered so you can recreate them whilst visiting.
As an FYI, you don’t have to be a vegan to learn something from this book. If you are a foodie, a world traveler, interested in geography, history or culture, or just like learning something new, this book is for you. Future volumes of travel guides for vegans for specific destinations with more in-depth information are planned to be written and released at a later date. These will focus on local eateries, markets, and destinations that would be of interest to vegans with full details on each.
In addition to the book, a video accompaniment is planned for all the recipes, including guides to ingredients, and step-by-step instructions on how to make them, wherever you are in the world.
In order to do this properly though, I need some help with funding. I don't have deep pockets and haven't been financially endowed. Traveling to the different regions of the world to research their culinary traditions is an expensive endeavor, and will take some time to complete. Funds received will help with travel expenses and research in locations visited. This is an ongoing project-there is no deadline to submit your contributions for my project; any amount is greatly appreciated! However, the sooner it can be funded, the sooner this can become a reality.
As an incentive, for those generous contributors, once published, you will receive a complimentary copy of the completed book. It will be available in both paper and electronic formats. Other rewards may be available, such as t-shirts, custom kitchen gadgets and other unique swag, depending on how successful this fundraising campaign is.
