To our dearest family, friends, and good Samaritans:

As most of you have been made aware, my wife, Vanessa, was diagnosed with Stage 3B Adenocarcinoma Well Differentiated Cervical Cancer in September 2022. It broke our hearts when we learned about her condition, and we were even more devastated when, two weeks later, another oncologist upstaged her to Stage 4A because her CT Scan results showed that her urinary bladder was also affected by the tumor in her cervix. The oncologist mentioned that her cancer is rare and is less likely to respond to treatments, but we still need to try. Since her diagnosis, she has undergone 28 fractions of radiotherapy, three low-dose chemotherapy (discontinued), six cycles of high-dose chemotherapy, and four HDR brachytherapy. Numerous laboratory tests and blood transfusions were done, as well. In between these treatments in December 2022, she also underwent a nephrostomy tube insertion in both her kidneys as her creatinine level shot up because of complications in her urinary bladder. The nephrostomy tube in her right kidney was removed after a month of its insertion, but the one in her left is still attached up to this date.

We were joyful when she finished her treatment last August 18, 2023, but a month later, her cancer had metastasized to the lymph nodes in her neck. We have yet to find out if the cancer has metastasized in other parts of her body through a PET Scan, but this procedure is costly. Our family’s finances are depleted. My salary as a teacher is our only source of income, and it can no longer sustain our family’s needs and her medical expenses.

This is the reason why we started this campaign. At this rate, she was deemed “incurable” by her oncologists. A lifetime of weekly chemotherapy was initially advised as maintenance, no longer a cure, and there is no assurance that she will survive. When her body gives up due to the toxicity of chemo drugs, they will stop the treatment, and as the oncologist said, “all that is left to do is wait.” Our two children and I will never give up on her. We would like to try a different treatment approach as soon as possible as my wife’s pain attacks and bleeding are becoming more frequent again. This treatment will include consultations and medications from doctors in the United States, which we know will cost a fortune, but we must give it a shot.

With unyielding prayers, we are humbly reaching out to you for donations and any support you can give my wife to help add years to her life as a mother, a daughter, a friend, a sister, a wife, and above all, a faithful servant of God.

Our deepest gratitude for all the help we received from our family and relatives, friends and colleagues, brothers and sisters in the faith who continuously pray for us and with us, and their generosity to our family in these trying times.

Any amount of your donations is highly appreciated.
