Hey! We are Marilin, Roosi and Marta and we received a scholarship to study in United World College international high schools in Norway, Canada and Hong Kong! We need your help to be able to get to our dream schools!
UWC (United World Colleges) is a global educational organization with a mission to unite people from different cultures, countries and nations through education for peace and a sustainable future. The UWC organization has created 18 schools around the world, bringing together a multicultural group of young people to learn to understand and consider different customs and ways of thinking.
Although our scholarships cover most of the living and tuition costs, we would need help with Marilin and Marta's transportation costs to get to the UWC schools in Hong Kong and Canada, and with paying for the missing part of Roosi's partial scholarship. In total, approx. 4,600 euros will be needed to support young people.
We are very happy to announce that this year the UWC International Office has created a matching challenge, meaning that for every 1000 pounds (~1150 €) collected by July 31st, we would get the same amount matched by the International Office. As the UWC alumni from Estonia have already donated 600€, we would only need to collect additional 1,800€ by July 31 (7% takes the collection platform), which would allow us to go on the educational journey of our dreams.
Little introduction from us:
"Hello! I'm Marilin. I'm already sixteen and a half years old and I live in a small town in southern Estonia called Tõrva. As a fairly active young person, I'm active on quite a few fronts - I'm a presenter and former editor on the local youth radio, I'm active in the Tõrva Youth Council and the student council of Tõrva Gymnasium, in the local cinema, I sing and play the violin, and most of all I have a great interest in biology and chemistry :) But starting this fall, I will continue my adventures 7800 km from Estonia in Hong Kong, where one of the UWC international schools called Li Po Chun is waiting for me.
My biggest wish is to study natural sciences at Li Po Chun, because it is with their support that solutions could be created, with the help of which our society could function more economically and less damaging to nature."
"Hey-hey! I'm Marta, born and raised on the banks of the pristine Emajõgi in Tartu, where, in addition to studying at Treffner, I work as a volunteer at Uues Teatr and in the cultural capital Tartu 2024 team. From autumn, I have the honor of being the first Estonian to start studies in the CALD (Climate Action Leadership Diploma) program on the other side the big ocean, that is, at Pearson College UWC in Canada. I am extremely excited to be able to connect my passion for the environment with my studies and observe Estonia from a different point of view for a while, so that with a fresh eye and the wealth of experience gained from CALD, I will gather my ideas when I return after two years to implement for a more sustainable future."
"Hello! My name is Roosi and I am one of the four Estonian UWC scholars who took the life-changing decision to study abroad in 2022. My luck smiled in favor of the UWC Red Cross Nordic college on the west coast of Norway, where I am thanks to UWC have already been able to live and study for the whole academic year.
Norway is a wonderful place and my school is very open-minded and offers me great opportunities to develop myself and learn from the students around me who have come together from all over the world. I really like hiking, and since my school is located in the middle of mountains, fjords and Norwegian nature, I can live in a wonderful community with nature all year round. The UWC education program has made my life and my future much brighter. Thanks to the new international relationships and perspectives I have gained over the year, I feel that it has also made me a better person.
I'm already looking forward to next year, and since it's my last year of study in Norway, I'm trying to take the last of this experience and go hiking a lot :)"
In order for our adventures to start carefree, we are now asking for your help and support!
