Campaign Story
My name is Julie Coffman, I am the Volunteer Coordinator for the Fort Lee USO. I am happily married and supported by SSG (P) Doyle Coffman, my mom, Linda Collins (Nana), and three wonderful children, Tryston 17, Landon 15, and Cheyanne 12. OH yea and my hiking partner and military therapy dog Sprinkles. All of which volunteer on a regular basis at our local USO. My family has been stationed all over the world;ranging from Arizona, Germany, New York, and now Virginia, as well as the places my husband has been sent to. Thus we are very familiar with the USO, and all the great services this organization has to offer our troops. Starting February 18th 2017, I will be attempting a through hike of the Appalachian Trail. I will start in Amicalola Falls Georgia, and I will end my journey at Mt. Katadin Maine. My goal to finish up around the first week in August. I first decided to hike the AT about 18 months ago. I just decided that I was going to do this, and told my hubby and my family that it is my turn to go TDY. With great anxiety, and trepidation they gave me their blessing. At first I think they thought I was nuts, and thought “there is no way she will go through with this”, but as time got closer they realized that this self finding journey was going to happen.
