Provide work & a psoriasis ointment for homeless people in UK. & Africa

HF Ltd is a business enterprise launching a brand new, totally natural & Eco friendly body care range. Using business to affect social change.

I am working with Strathclyde University to launch an innovative project supplying an ointment I have created that has great results for psoriasis & eczema.

I want to provide an access to employment programme for homeless people in local services to make & distribute this ointment to charities working with rough sleepers in the UK.

I also want to provide work by starting community businesses in Africa making the product from locally sourced materials.

Giving is not empowering but giving to enable something that can then generate more will provide a means for change to occur.

I've Done a lot of background research & networked with connections in Kenya who will assist there in the pilot project.

HEAVENLY FAVOUR Ltd (HF Ltd)- HOW IT ALL BEGAN......

Hi there & thank you for taking the time to read about my business & how it came into being. I hope my ideas inspire you to partner with me to get the business to the next level so I can start implementing the social aspects.

I’m Gloria Craik, sole owner & director of Heavenly Favour Ltd. I’m a single female of a certain age that works way too many hours because I’m passionate about what I do.

Whilst confined to bed for several months due to illness at the start of 2018, I developed Psoriasis & had to find alternative body care products because my usual ones irritated my skin. I couldn’t find anything that combined effectiveness with present-ability & a pleasant fragrance. not to be defeated, I decided to try making my own once I was up and about more. I believed so much in the potential of the products I was creating that in April 2019 I set up Heavenly Favour Ltd in anticipation of being able to make it a successful business.

As I became less bed bound, my mental health began to deteriorate because I was no longer able to continue working in homelessness, which I had done for the previous decade. I was also faced with difficult life challenges including finance as my marriage came to an end & I was catapulted into becoming independent.

I had been absent from work for so long, I was ill health dismissed. This happened at the same time that I was successful in being accepted on the Accelerator programme delivered by Elevator UK in partnership with Highlands & Islands Enterprise & Business Gateway. The mentoring & access to resources & speakers has been so helpful along with lots of networking opportunities. I am also being supported by People Plus a contractor for DWP who will provide mentoring for 1 year.

Realising through the support given by Elevator UK, I could combine business with social change ie: use my product to help others in more than one way was a game changer & has been a lifeline for me mentally. I have renewed purpose & something to give again. This drives me now. That same passion & tenacity I used to get out of a deep hole when i found myself homeless at 16 still fuels the fire that will continue to push me forward in this venture. It’s my time to do this, use my creativity & experience to carve a different & prosperous path for myself but take others with me.

With HF Ltd, I hope to help address the revolving door of homelessness observed during my 10 years working with homeless support, prevention of homelessness & tenancy sustainment across Moray. HF Ltd will offer a robust volunteer & employee programme that will support individuals in Homeless services in Moray to learn new & grow existing transferable skills. This will include confidence & self esteem building, training & experience that will help build CVS, improve life chances & expanded horizons.

I approached & have partnered with SACRO supported Accommodation Services for homeless people with challenges in Moray. SACRO will refer interested service users to me to come be a part of the day to day running of the business. they will be involved in every aspect so they get as much experience as I can possible give & their time with me will be reviewed regularly.

This is not simply a charitable gift, but a real opportunity for service users to invest time & effort into achieving goals they may not otherwise realise or think they could reach for.

Moray is such a beautiful place to live. We are blessed with clean air, clear waters & the most stunning scenery. I am currently developing a range of quality bathroom essentials at competitive prices that will reflect this in colour, Fragrance & name. The main target market is the hotel industry. I would love to see my products in hotel rooms across the nation & beyond, beginning with Moray. The company is committed to boosting the local economy by utilising as many local resources as possible.

The psoriasis ointment will be available once we (HF & Strathclyde University) have stabilised the vescocity so it can withstand transportation & use in hot climates. At the moment the melting point of some of the ingredients deems it unfit for the purpose of sending to & producing in Africa There is not a huge number of instances of psoriasis & eczema in Africa compared to countries further from the equator but the people who are most likely to suffer in Africa do not have access to medical intervention to get relief from the symptoms. I want to help with that relief but also to create businesses that will generate work & income for those sufferers also.
