Campaign Story
Noleen Pierrus (nee Bridgewater) is a loving wife, wonderful mother of two and and my amazing life-long friend.
After feeling a discomfort in her throat and discovering a lump on the left side of her neck, she went for tests and a scan. Sadly, Noleen received the news that we all dread confirming the presence of cancer.
In January 2020 the test results confirmed Papillary Cancer – a malignant tumor on her Thyroid!
Noleen requires urgent surgery to remove and contain the spread of the cancer. She unfortunately does not have the financial means to fund the surgery herself which has forced her to seek treatment at the Helen Joseph Hospital (HJH), a public facility located in Auckland, Johannesburg, South Africa. The surgery was scheduled for April 2020. Due to COVID-19 restrictions introduced by the South African Government, public hospitals were required to re-prioritize all resources, and the surgery was cancelled. Noleen was placed on a waiting list and, after repeated follow-up visits (every 2 weeks), no confirmed surgery date has been provided.
Whilst waiting for her revised surgery date, Noleen’s physical condition has been steadily declining. The pain in becoming more unbearable, she battles to swallow and often feeling restricted breathing.
Due to the lack response from HJH, Noleen has to turn to private hospital treatment to receive the lifesaving treatment required.
I would like to raise the amount of R150 000.00 (£7400.00) which is required for Noleen’s treatment (surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation) at a private hospital.
Please can you help us reach our target so that Noleen can have a normal life again?
Thank you so much and stay safe!
Bianca
