- Raising Funds to Build a Sustainable Water Supply for Disadvantaged Children
- Living in Poor and Cramped Conditions
- No Access to Clean water for Personal Hygiene
- Manifestation of Contagious Skin Diseases
- Diseases easily spread, creating a downward spiral for these Children
Skin Conditions of the Novices caused by Poor Hygiene due to lack of clean water
We are trying to raise sufficient funds to build a sustainable water supply for Vat Pha-O Secondary and High school.
This school is located in Laos, Luang Prabang, and was specially built to offer financially disadvantaged Laotian children a holistic environment for a chance at receiving education and inculcating proper values in life.
The establishment houses up to 1,000 Child novices aged between 10 to 20, and up to 70 monks and nuns during peak seasons.
The school is currently lacking in clean water, a basic amenity required for the personal hygiene of the inhabitants.
This lack, coupled with the cramped living conditions of the premises, has resulted in widespread skin conditions, which are transmitted easily due to the contagiousness of these diseases.
The novices have a hard time focusing on their hopes of improving their lives through education amidst living in such stressful conditions.
We hope to be able to raise the required funds to build a functional water treatment distribution system to better the lives of these people.
Actual Conditions of the wash area filled with water from the polluted Mekong River
Diseases Easily Spread Through Cramped and Unsanitary Living Conditions
One of the small Sleeping areas shared by a few children usually huddled together for warmth
Another Communal Wash Area Filled with Unsanitary Rain and River Water for Bathing
Poor Conditions Overall
One of the Notices to Warn Children of the Diseases
Boxes of Medication used to Treat the Outbreak
Children Being Inspected and Treated for Any Skin Conditions
The Funds raised will go into the setting up of a pump system will be installed on a pontoon in the river Mekong.
Upon completion of the full system, the water will pumped through pipelines into clear water tanks, which is used for the sedimentation, the second tank is used for the water treatment, and a third tank will receive the clear water.
The connected pump house will contain a pump, which pumps the potable water into water tank reservoirs for the distribution of the water into the different areas for consumption, like the bathing areas, toilets, kitchen, school buildings etc.The whole temple school will be supplied with potable water which will alleviate the suffering of the Novices.
We would sincerely appreciate your help in this project.
