WITHOUT OUR HELP TONY WILL BE IN THE STREETS AND WILL LOSE HIS LITTLE DOG AND THE FEW POSSESSIONS HE STILL OWNS . This is to help a dear friend and his little dog stay safe and off the streets and together by covering a cheap motel room . Tony is the guy and Rocky is his little dog . He has been through so much and cared for his father and learning disabled brother and little dogs through it all . His elderly dogs have now gone to rainbow bridge and tragically his dad died and a couple of years after his brother was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and also died . Its now just Tony and little Rocky trying to hang on and nothing is easy or straight forward for them . Things are not helped at all by the fact that the hotels don't do weekly or monthly rates so Tony has to pay daily for his room from what is donated as it comes in . The hotels also don't do permanent residencies which means that Tony only gets so many nights before he has to check out for at least 2 nights . This is a very stressful time for Tony as the other hotels cost more , he has no transport and has to get himself , Rocky and all his belongings to another hotel and back again after , the check out time and check in time can vary and leave him with hours that he has no where to go or keep his belongings safe and in the Summer time the hotels often sell out too . All of this is what he has to contend with every 18 days at the moment and he is so very stressed by it all .

Tony has struggled for 10 years to survive from one day to the next .He finds it so hard to keep going and has lost all hope . Tony suffers from terrible depression and prays every night that god will take him to be back with his family again . He feels so lost and alone without them and little Rocky is so important to him and what keeps him alive when he wishes he could just give up and die a lot of the time .

Tony is at the moment trying to get help and he put in a disability claim with help from a doctors practice he joined at the end of last year but has been rejected because of not having worked for a while . He now has to try and put in a claim for the other disability benefit which takes longer to process and needs our help . The doctor has said Tony is not fit for work and unlikely to improve enough to work in the future . A recent MRI scan has shown Tony has a large hernia in his abdomen and an enlarged prostate , he also has prolonged seriously high blood pressure that the doctor can't get to come down even though Tony now takes 5 different tablets for this , his doctor is very worried it could lead to him having a stroke or heart attack at any time because it is so extremely high , he has issues with his spine that affects his mobility and gives him bad back pain and also has stomach ulcers and severe dizziness which has caused falls . He also suffers very badly with depression and has severe anxiety and panic attacks . Tony's mobility is so bad that he has had falls just walking across the hotel parking lot and using his en suite bathroom and even just getting to the front desk to pay for his room can be a real challenge for him a lot of the time .

Tony is struggling with what the disability people want from him as they need him to go for an examination by one of their doctors that is quite a way from where he is staying . Tony no longer has any transport and his worsening health issues mean he can't walk far at all so getting around is very difficult for him . He usually has to try and find someone to give him a lift or use a taxi and even going locally like to his PO box or swapping hotels is very difficult . When he went to his PO box he had to rely on a homeless friend being able to bump start his broken car to take him and to go between hotels costs him about $30 each way because they have to wait for him to check in before he can unload his belongings and it takes time to load and unload too . As you can imagine when local trips are so difficult getting to this appointment further away is almost impossible for him and a real problem . We are still hoping to be able to continue with his disability claim if he can get to this examination though .

He has also contacted his local rapid rehousing office and left his details . He was phoned back by a social worker but they told him they only help those about to lose their homes or who have some sort of income and that he should go to a homeless shelter . That would mean losing Rocky though and they are not safe places to be, he would have no where to keep his belongings safe and there isn't one close enough for Tony to be able to get to . He also is not good at interacting with others and would never cope with being in such close proximity to so many other people he doesn't know . I also had someone with relatives in the area trying to find help for him at one time but nothing came of that. He has also had help from churches in the past but that help has all stopped now too . All those Tony is friends with are homeless too and are always letting him down or in the same predicament themselves so cant help him . It has often been Tony trying to help them but they all move on and when Tony needs help .. no one is there to help him .Tony does always try so hard though in very difficult impossible circumstances and desperately needs our help .

Very often because of all the stress and worry and Panicking Tony finds it very hard to be able to have a clear enough mind to deal with everything and think straight . Tony needs to keep his room covered as the threat of him being in the streets absolutely terrifies and panics him and he has very bad panic attacks and his fears take over his mind so he cant think of anything else . At times we are only managing to cover his room one night at a time and once hes paid for a night he doesn't have enough for the next one until more donations come in . As you can imagine this is very scary, stressful and worrying for Tony and hes finding it very hard to know what to do . He is very very worried about keeping his little dog safe and about losing him . Rocky is his constant companion and the only thing that gives him a reason to keep trying and no matter how hard things get Tony always takes very good care of him . Very often Tony will go without food himself but always makes sure Rocky eats twice a day . Tony's health issues mean he really could probablt do with going into hospital and having a good check over and treatment , but he won't leave his little dog with anyone else so wont go into hospital either . It is very important that they stay together as Tony would just give up without him .If Tony was to lose his room he would be in the streets and lose everything including little Rocky . Tony is a very dear friend and I know I couldn't do this without everyone's help so I am so grateful for every dollar we get donated because it all adds up and is what keeps Tony and little Rocky alive and safe .
