Campaign Story
With the recent spike in COVID-19 cases, migrant domestic workers are among those testing “preliminary positive” and “positive” for COVID-19 in the recent days.
Since hospitals and quarantine facilities are overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients, migrant domestic workers who have mild symptoms were told to “stay home for isolation”. However, they have no home in Hong Kong; instead they must live in their employers homes.
We, in the Asian Migrants Coordinating Body, have received growing reports of migrant workers who have been rejected by their employers and left in the cold over the past 2-3 days. We are a vulnerable under the COVID-19 pandemic.
With no assistance available, these workers are abandoned on the street overnight, stranded at hospitals, lacking food and supplies. Some are not even eligible for public healthcare due to being terminating by their employers simply because they were positive.
To support our fellow migrant workers we are raising money for the following needs:
- - Food and water assistance
- - Rapid antigen test kits
- - Medical supplies
- - Blankets, sleeping bags, personal necessities
- - Temporary and safe accomodation
HKD $150 can sponsor 1 worker for emergency support for ONE day.
We appeal to you to support us through this crisis. Together, we can get through this.
