Urgent needed sterilization,medical care for stray cats of Athens,Greece!

My name is Vaia-Alexandra, I’m 37 years old, living in Athens, a cat lover, animal lover and volunteer for looking after stray cats Athens, and particularly the city center,which is overpopulated by stray cats, due to many reasons: lack of proper education, animal cruelty and neglect (Greece is among the countries with a high rate of animal abuse), lack of state/government funding to local animal associations who struggle to gather funds to care for the strays, lack of organized shelters for stray cats, and the very few state programs are hardly enough for all the strays or don’t cover stray cats. Stray Cats in Athens are supported mostly by private VOLUNTEERS using their OWN FUNDS. Some people, Greeks and foreigners living here, are doing their best care for stray cats, but this is not enough as the number of strays gets bigger by the day. Most of these animals have an extremely difficult life, reproducing and trying to raise their kittens under very bad conditions, as a result many end up sick and die helpless since NO ONE PROVIDES THEM WITH THE PROPER MEDICAL CARE. In some areas you can see small kittens starving and crying, living in very dangerous places where if they don’t get sick they are FEEDING AND VETERINARY COSTS are too high for common people and volunteers to afford. WE NEED YOUR HELP! Sterilization program is the best solution for the stray cats so they do not suffer anymore. If each one SHARED this and/or even give A GIFT OF 1 EURO we can help these animals not to suffer. 1 cat sterilized means saving thousands more, as 1 female cat and her off-springs can produce on average 20,000 kittens in only 4 years! The cost of sterilization surgery in Greece varies from 20-70€, the goal of 3.000€ will allow us to sterilize around 100 cats and provide some vet care for the sick/injured ones!
