URGENT NEED FOR MEDICAL EXPENSES AND SUPPORT FOR 150 + CATS

Giulietta, Gray, Sortie, Green Tiger, Kardoulis, Red, Pika and more than 150 cats need your help!

Dear friends, I’m calling out to your humanity once again, since my cats need your help, more than ever!!

My name is Marianna Adam and I’m 41 years old. I live in Athens, Greece and for over half of my life I'm working on rescuing, treating, and homing sick and injured stray cats.

I handle cats’ rescues, even in difficult circumstances, such as from drainage pipes, car engines, abandoned buildings, building sites etc. They are difficult cases, but I cannot deny my help to the community and to these poor souls. Unfortunately, some people are irresponsible and left the poor animals to me, without offering any support.

In my so many years working with stray cats, I have also found a huge number of newborns, either from litters of stray cats or from domestic -non spayed- cats that the owners threw away the kittens, like trash! In Greece, we still need a lot of education regarding spaying stray and domestic animals and a lot of pressure to the State to do the right thing!

In the last 10 years I was responsible for spaying over 500 stray cats all over the city of Athens and for many years now, I’m feeding more than 300 cats per day in various colonies around Athens. Every single cat has been treated by the Vets I'm working with.

Currently I'm providing shelter to 150 cats with many of them being treated due to their health conditions. Due to their poor health, most of them cannot outdoors and many of them were abused and now they misbehave and it’s making it so difficult for them to get adopted. And emergencies keep coming!!!

In the last 2 years, I have helped a lot of stray cats to find lovely homes and I also created a page on Facebook (A cat's life) so I can share my work with other people and ask for assistance, so I can continue my work with stray cats and promote the rest of my cats for adoptions.

In order to cope with the expenses of taking care so many cats and most of them with special needs, I used to have 2 jobs and also a lot of help from people close to me. Unfortunately things got worse for me and I lost my last remaining job and most of the people helping me on daily basis.

In May 2020, I had to move some of my cats in a new place and many of you helped me a lot then and I want to thank you once again for that! I have separated the cats in 4 different places, trying to offer them a better life, but the expenses keep piling up!

The main pet hospital that is treating some of my very sick cats is assisting me with the expenses, providing an open credit of 4000 euros. In addition the rest expenses including special kind of food for the sick cats, feeding the rest, medical exams, medicines, cat sands etc., are around 1800 euros per month.

You can see it’s a huge amount per month, which I do not have and also a huge responsibility to take care all of these animals by myself. I work with the animals 17 hours every day and I’m still trying to get a job…

At this point, I have nowhere else to turn and ask for help to keep helping the cats until they find a new home or pass away in peace.
