We urgently need to build shelter areas for rescued animals. There are animals dying and in need of help, but there is no safe, warm, dry place for them! All the shelters are full and most are euthanizing animals everyday because they have no space available. There is only one shelter in an area of 3 million people--an area that stretches for 251 miles, a total of 2,173 sq miles. There are hundreds of sick and injured dogs, cats and other domestic animals in immediate danger in this area. Poisoning cats as a way to reduce their numbers is fairly common, and last month there were several cases of dogs suffering severe abuse. At least one dog was beaten to death--in a brutal episode lasting almost 15 minutes. It was caught on security video but the suspect has not been arrested yet. The next week there was a litter of 6 month old puppies killed by stoning--this also was documented by photos---one of the puppies survived when a private rescuer rushed to the scene to intervene.

We could not continue to watch these reports and do nothing--we had to do something! But the needs are overwhelming. There are not enough animal shelters and rescue people to cover such a large area. One private rescuer told us he is only able to respond to 3 % of the calls he gets for help! In addition, many dogs are euthanized everyday by the municipal authorities, only because there is a lack of shelter space. Since the government has no plans to build any new animal shelters, we decided to take matters into our own hands. We rented a rural property zoned agriculture, with a large barn/industrial building--just perfect for a shelter. We have a place, but it is not yet complete, nor is it ready for cold winter weather. The expenses for the lease, food and medical expenses for the animals we have now, and the building and remodeling expenses for the new animal pens and enclosures--these costs must all be covered by monthly donations--we have no large donors underwriting this project. Due to the pandemic lock downs and closures and other factors, we are now faced with the possibility of losing our lease at the end of this month--in the middle of winter! All our precious rescue animals will have nowhere to go.

We urgently need to raise at least $10,000 to try to save the only place they have to call home. If we lose our lease, we will lose our entire investment and all the hard work we have done so far.

We know these are tough times--but if enough people gave just a little, we could cover our costs, and continue saving lives and caring for these precious animals--many of whom are in need of critical care--the old, the newborn, the blind, and those recovering from illness, injury or surgery.

We are volunteers, not paid employees. We give almost 100% of our personal time and finances to save the lives of animals in danger here--but our dedication and devotion is not enough. We need your support to continue. Even a small donation of $20 can make a huge difference--literally saving an animal's life!
