A GREAT WAY TO MAKE AN IMPACT AND HELP A SYRIAN FAMILY TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL?

How Will You Feel, If I Tell You That There Is a Great Way to Encourage and Strengthen A Heart-Breaking Family And Making Them The Hero they Want To Be?

Greetings Everyone,

My name is Bassel Alismaiel, I live in Germany and I am running this campaign on behalf of a Syrian refugee family with whom I have a strong kinship. They have asked me to communicate their voice to the world and I am passing to you their message as is. Please read carefully!

A Harsh Truth
Life comes with the promise of never-ending challenges, difficult choices and situations that are deemed impossible to navigate through. This is the painful and heart-wrenching truth that is faced by millions of Syrians still suffering from the aftermath of war in present-day Syria. The crisis, which has been deteriorating for years, has created a strong need for basic necessities that are essential for human life. The same necessities that the world takes for granted is something which Syrians continue to long for. Essentials like nutritious food for consumption, clothing to cover the body, shelter for protection against the harsh elements of nature, jobs to maintain a stream of income and services that a normal human being can’t live without.

The Plight of Syrians
Syrians who are dispersed all over the globe continue to suffer from the aftermath of the war that they have left behind. Not only has war destroyed their hopes, aspirations and introduced them to constant psychological trauma but it has also left them without a secure prospect for prosperity in the future. Hundreds of thousands of refugees depend on a stream of donations, charity and external help to support themselves and their grief-stricken families. This is the reality they have to face every day.

My Family Situation Now
My name is Omar, I am writing this letter on behalf of my Syrian family that consists of 8 people including my parents (father 73 years, mother 65 years) and two young children (6 & 8 years). We fled to the Republic of Georgia as penniless refugees after our house was destroyed by the militants in Syria. We lost everything there was to lose. In the wake of destruction and carnage that has enveloped much of Syria, we have also lost our home and everything within it. Photo albums, that provided a glimpse into our daily lives before the war, were torn to mere shreds and lost in the rubble. We lost our neighbors, never to know what happened to them or where they ended up. We lost our friends, never to know if they reside above or below ground. All our links and connections with the homeland, we grew up in, were lost overnight. The war introduced us to strong feelings of pain, grief and sorrow that I wish no other living being should go through. War truly is a terrible affair.
Although, now we live in relative safety and are away from the threat of bombs and destruction, we have new challenges that we must overcome. We are trapped in the Republic of Georgia, and it is virtually impossible for us to leave for any other country due to our expired passports. We also cannot renew our passports as there is no Syrian embassy present in all of Georgia. Furthermore, we are afraid that the cost of relocation is one cost that we cannot bear to afford as we are already in a tough financial situation. Countries around the world are refusing Syrian refugees, like us, to enter their borders and with every passing day, our future becomes more uncertain and anti-refugee narratives seem to be taking route in much of developed Europe.

The Difficulties Ahead
We have repeatedly asked for asylum in the Republic of Georgia, and sadly, we have been refused every single time. Syrians are hard-working people, and like them, we would like to contribute towards the economy of the country however due to this situation none of my family members are able to get either work permits, residence permits or adequate insurance. Due to this, my family members (myself included) have been unable to find employment for a period of two consecutive years. We are living without any fixed daily or monthly income and to make matters worse, we are not the recipients of any external financial assistance. We are living on mere breadcrumbs and hope seems to dwindle with every passing second.
Moreover, my family cannot afford to visit hospitals as we do not have any health insurance plans. Due to high medical treatment costs, it is impossible for us to pay bills on time if any health emergency presents itself. This is all the more critical due to the Covid-19 pandemic that has paralyzed the world. In these circumstances, we are left helpless and utterly vulnerable. As you may have come to understand, this whole situation is extremely tough on all of us, and a great source of unimaginable mental stress. I cannot imagine losing more than what I have already lost.

A Need for Hope
Right now, we sincerely hope that you will seriously consider our plight for help. It will mean the world to us and alleviate the worry that plagues our minds night and day. We are suffering because of our unfortunate financial circumstances and have tried to explore every avenue humanly possible to gain lawful employment. However, as I have illustrated, we have been met with extensions, dead-ends and uncertain promises.

Make a Difference
I personally believe that the biggest impact on lives of others can be made with unconditional help and assistance provided to those who are in dire need of it. Indeed, the feeling of knowing that you have made a true and valuable difference in the life of someone else is truly the most heart-warming and beautiful sensation there can ever be. I sincerely hope that you will try to put yourself in our shoes, assess our circumstances from our perspective and understand how hopeless my family situation continues to be.

Final Thank You
I feel so grateful to everyone who has taken the time to read our campaign and for those who contributed what they could to make a difference in helping us raise the funds we need. Please know your efforts, even the smallest, will not go unnoticed. I will continue to keep you posted on what your donation helped my family to achieve.
If you can’t contribute, that doesn’t mean you can’t help. Help us get the word out and make some noise about the campaign! Use the sharing tools on our campaign page to email your friends, tweet our cause on Twitter. We appreciate all your support.

Help Us Make It Happen
Please help us achieve this cause and donate to help my family rebuild our house and be able to start our own business, supply our daily needs, pay for our children school, get the necessary medication for the parents and cover the expenses of the immigration attorney fees to defend our case in court. A portion of these funds will also go to family relatives shattered and dispersed around the world.

Thank you very much and I hope that you consider my request. Every donation makes a difference.
