Urgent help for the only Rabbit & Guinea Pig Shelter in Costa Rica

In 2018 thanks to GoGetFunding (Link to our 2018 campaign https://assets.gogetfunding.com/urgent-help-for-the-only-... ) we were able to gather an amount so that the shelter could build an economic wooden structure with a roof, to protect and to house all the abandoned and rescued rabbits and guinea pigs in Costa Rica that arrived at their doors. This structure has been repaired several times over the years, but it has sustained damages by heavy rains and difficult weather. This time they want to build a stronger structure trying to avoid wood as much as possible to last longer and be able to put up with the heavy rains of that region.

Now in 2021 the structure is now so damaged by the humidity it is beyond repair and a couple days ago because of the current rains a part of this wooden structure broke. All the rabbits had to be evacuated from the wooden shelter. Mrs. Ari Almanzor (The Founder) is having a really difficult time keeping all the animals in her own home and garage. We are talking about hundreds of rabbits.

This shelter does not receive any money from the government. It survives only from donations and from a small rabbit and guinea pigs grooming salon managed by the shelter's founder and her family (Their customers are mainly the families that adopt the shelter's rabbits and guinea pigs).

Rabbits are horribly misunderstood in Costa Rica, often seen as food or toys. Abandoned all the time or exploited in breeding places. This amazing shelter not only saves and rescues individual cases, but all the time have to receive over 20 rabbits & guinea pigs at a time in one single rescue, because breeders abandon all the animals they have been exploiting at once. This breeders mostly surrender out the animals in horrible health conditions. Costa Rica is a very expensive country and this amazing woman with the help of her family fights every month to take care of so many rabbits and guinea pigs. Their medical needs, their housing and looking for responsible new homes for them.

They do not only expected to survive from donations but used their work ethic and imagination to set up the grooming salon as well as selling rabbit and guinea pig supplies to try and support the shelter and continue their mission.

The amount of abandoned rabbits has increased a lot since 2020. The medical bills can barely be paid for the little ones and they have only been able to collect so far the money for the materials for the metal structure. They are asking one more time for help from any animal lovers on this platform to gather all the funds they need to build a new structure to be able to sustain the weather, home all the little ones and give room to rescue more rabbits and guinea pigs.

The shelter has been organizing raffles on their facebook to try and collect the funds for the construction but it's still not bringing enough funds to buy all the materials. Any dollar will be highly appreciated. The fundraiser is only to buy the materials because the labor has been donated.

Please help this shelter collect enough to buy all the materials and help them give more rabbits and guinea pigs a chance. This is the only animal shelter in Costa Rica that houses rabbits and guinea pigs. People that do not want their rabbits anymore abandon them on the street or eat them. This shelter's work is this little one's only chance in Costa Rica.
