MaoMi (means "cat" in Chinese") had been a street cat living under an overhead bridge for about 10 years (thus he is also called Bridge). Last year, he disappeared for days and worried me sick. When he finally reappeared, he had an injured eye and other wounds on his head. When I brought him to the vet, he was also found to have Chronic Kidney Disease. My finances is tight, but I decided to bring him home to foster since he would no longer be able to survive on the streets, given his health condition.

Treatment for MaoMi's kidney problem is expensive, but I tried to keep up with careful budgeting and tightening of belts.

However, in the last few months, MaoMi was also diagnosed with hyperthyroid and borderline glaucoma. He is receiving treatment for these conditions, but these all add up and it is increasingly difficult for me to manage his expenses.

And then, MaoMi injured his right eye (ulcer and sequestrum), and underwent an urgent eye surgery on 6 Sep 17 by the only eye specialist currently in Singapore via Amber Vet. The operation was needed ASAP to prevent further complications.

The eye specialist, Dr Oliveira, said the surgery went well. Bill totalled S$3,537 (please refer to update #3). Besides bearing the majority of the surgery cost, MaoMi's medical costs for his chronic illnesses have been more than S$3,000 to-date. I am thus extremely financially strained as MaoMi's fosterer.

Please help me with MaoMi's eye surgery cost and long-term medical bills. I will provide updates on all donations and how they are spent on MaoMi’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/maomi.bridge.5). Thank you…

Surgery on 6 Sep 17

Update posted by Cheryl S at 04:03 am

The graft is a delicate procedure typically done by an eye specialist. Currently, there is no animal eye specialists in Singapore. A local vet experienced in eye treatment and surgery is out to town, too, until early October and fully booked till about 6 weeks from now. So, the only

More complicated surgery needed :-(

Update posted by Cheryl S at 06:40 am

Update on MaoMi's situation after visit to vet yesterday: MaoMi's eye surgery now most likely to involve three procedures: (1) fix a torn jagged third eye lid. (2) surgical removal of sequestrum which has grown a bit bigger over the last two weeks (3) graft to patch the hole created. . . . .
