Paradise Community Centre is a children's home located in Kibera slum, the largest slum in Africa. We give food, clothing, beds and schooling for homeless and orphaned children in Nairobi, Kenya. The community cares for 145 vulnerable children. 48 children are housed in the Home, while 97 are in outreach programs.

This children's home urgently needs your help. Due to the Covid-19 crisis, there's no money and there's no food. If you can offer any money, it will be the best value-for-money donation you can give. Every single cent is going to the most urgent necessities. This is the most important and critical time to donate to those in need.

The centre was started in the year 2002 by Ms. Pamela Owino, mother-of-five, to support HIV-affected and orphaned children in the slum. This is what a hero looks like: Click here to see a news article about this incredible woman.

Following the devastating 2007 election violence in Kenya, Kibera slum was one of the hardest hit areas, and many families were tragically affected. This left many people homeless and hundreds of children orphaned and in severe conditions. The centre soon developed into a fully fledged rescue program, housing 150 displaced adults and vulnerable children.

Our objective is to provide basic needs to the children under our care, such as food, shelter, education and medical care. The centre aims to go beyond the provision of the bare necessities to cultivate an environment that is conducive for the welfare and growth of the children into responsible, productive and law-abiding citizens in future.

  • I enjoyed meeting the staff and children when I was there with Japheth and Because International and the show that grows. I wish I was there to help.
