SUPPORT US TO RAISE 30,000 USD TO CREATE ONLINE PLATFORM FOR 400 WARLI TRIBAL ARTISTS TO SELL THEIR ART AND EARN SUFFICIENT TO LIVE BETTER LIFE

About Tribal Admire:

The primary objective of the campaign is to develop online Art Gallery to sell Warli Tribal Art and providing good benefits to Warli tribal artists of their Art.

Reasons for This Campaign:

Why we think online Gallery is required?

Warli tribal artists are mostly illiterate and can’t represent them effectively online or in person. So they are not getting reasonable amount for their valuable art.

Till date, the conventional practice has been to sell the Warli heritage through middlemen or intermediary traders, who buy cheap and sell dear and subsequently make multiple time profits.

Other important thing is that market abounds with Warli paintings made by non-Warli artists, who make intensive efforts to learn this art from various online and offline sources. However, although they might be successful in replicating the designs, the original thoughts, concepts, tribal themes and the authentic style seem to be absent. This reduces the quality, accuracy and genuineness of the actual Warli paintings. A Warli tribal artist can only identify the quality differences.

As it is their own platform the tribal artists will directly receive the money earned from sales. Also this platform shall be an integrated place for the customers to experience original Warli culture through intrinsic artwork.

About Warli Tribe

An indigenous tribe residing in the mountains and the coastal areas of the border of Maharashtra-Gujarat states of India, Warli’s are an example of sustainable living in the contemporary world. Their earnest respect for nature and wildlife preserves the environment while enhancing its natural elements and features. Deriving happiness in the lap of nature, their livelihood is determined by the earnings from their paintings. In fact, these paintings symbolise their culture, civilisation and identity. Culturally, they are devotees of Mother Nature and draw inspiration from the varied facets and dimensions encompassing it. Their civilised approach towards their culture maintains harmony between environment and human life.

Warli Paintings

Warli painting is a rich, diverse traditional art of the Warli Tribe and traces its origin to 2500 or 3000 BCE. It is counted among the finest examples of folk paintings. The theme of Warli art encompasses social life, nature, death, birth and fertility.

Warli Art is centred on promoting and preserving the cultural intellect and traditional knowledge of the community. Their civilised approach towards their culture is best captured and portrayed in their paintings, which also mirrors their daily woes and despair. These paintings are a clear reflection of their and regular life, its glory and dismay. Besides, the art also upholds their linguistic elements and their interpretation of the surroundings.

Today, this beautiful art is found to be replicated on a variety of media. The Warli paintings are now found on cloth murals, canvases, pottery and decorative handicraft items. Widespread commercialization has found its application on everyday items from daily tees, mugs, coasters, and bags to even smart phone cases!
