University Funding For Caroline

My name is Caroline, I am 19 years old and I am from Johannesburg, South Africa. I am a driven, optimistic and a hardworking person. I have an interest in the environment and the constant changes that take place around us, both positive and negative (and coming up with solutions to these environmental problems). However, I am also very passionate about mental health. That is why I am studying a Bachelor of Social Sciences Degree at Monash South Africa, majoring in Geography and Environmental Science as well as Psychology.

2019 was my first year in University and I have a learnt a lot. In order to double major in Geography and Environmental Science and Psychology I had to go through the Foundation Programme because my matric (grade 12) maths grade did not meet the requirements to go straight into udergrad. I went through Foundation and it helped me to adjust very well, academically and socially. In my first semester I achieved 3 Distinctions and 1 Higher Distinction with a WAM of 75.250 and a GPA of 3.250. I have just completed the full year unfortunately my fees have been increased to R 91 600.

While going through the transition from High School to University I had the opportunity to work with and interact with many young children from different socioeconomic backgrounds. So many issues were highlighted and so many of them are faced with challenges almost every single day and these have a huge impact as they get older; and many of them simply want someone who they can talk to. This has inspired me to continue my path of studying psychology so I help address the mental health issues youths face.

I am seeking funding because I am passionate about studying further but sadly neither I nor my family have the funds to pay for my tuition. I come from a home where I am constantly supported and encouraged to gain an education in order to make a better life for myself and my family.This opportunity would mean the world to me and any donation will make a huge difference.
