My name is Vartika Sai Pillay, a 16 year old girl living in South Africa. Through crowdfunding on GoGetFunding, I hope to raise the funds to pay for my tertiary education.
From a young age, my goal is to help the community, either through service or donation. One of the methods of achieving this as a profession is studying medicine. I am committed to pursue this as i believe that having a medical degrees will help me aid those in need of medical care to those who are destitute, impoverished and helpless.
I am fully focused and work extremely hard to achieve the grades required to study medicine. In pursuit of this course, I hope to study overseas. This will give me the most benefit out of my studies as it widens my horizon beyond the borders of my country.
However, the tuition fees for university are extremely high therefore the only way to achieve this is through high grades for a bursary and fundraising. As a hardworking student having achieved the Dux Scholar, I perform diligently so that I may acquire a scholarship. I hope that GoGetFunding may support my goal of reaching this vision.
With this money, I will start my studies in medicine. Then, I will give my time through volunteering as well as donations on behalf of my promise of continual charity throughout my life. I hope to work with NGOs such as Doctors Without Borders and other aid organisations as we work together to help those in distress, poverty and need.
I pledge that in the event of acquiring a full scholarship for university, all of the funds raised on this platform will go towards charity. With over 350 hours of community service done whilst at school, this is my absolute passion. I will uphold this promise with honesty as I continue to provide service to the underprivileged.
Thank you for taking the time to read through my statement. I hope that you may support my cause in serving.
I would like to end off by a quote that resonates with my beliefs and morals:
"I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples" - Mother Teresa
