Dear all

I am Chris and I am hosting here a campaign to help my colleague and long time friend to continue pursue her dream to further her study in Ph.D.

Both Sandra and I are Ph.D. student in Mathematics. When she completed her Master degree specialise in Pure Mathematics (Functional Analysis) back in 2013, she would like to pursue Ph.D right away but due to family issue and lack of finance, she had to work to obtain the necessary finance to pursue her dream. She first landed a temporary job as a research assistant for about 3 months then she went on to be a relief teacher where her pay was about US$45 per day excluding meal, accommodation and transport and she was not paid on Friday, Sunday and during school holidays. She worked for about 2 years and saving up the amount earned after deducting her meals, utility bills.

After 2 years of working as a relief teacher, she decided that she should further her study upon seeing a scholarship opportunity and so she had to quit her relief post because the first requirement for the application of the scholarship is that she should be a full time student but sadly she didn't fulfil one of the criteria that was only brought to her attention during the orientation day (not stated during her application). At that time, she was 29 years old and at the time she submitted her application for the scholarship, she was still 29 years old. But the scholarship requirement said that a student should not be at the age of 30 by September 1 (She exceeded by about 2 months) and hence she was being denied of her scholarship. She tried to appeal and follow up many times but her appeal and follow-ups all goes un-responded.

After her scholarship was denied, she was told to pay upfront the following:

1) Registration & Acceptance Fees - About US$150

2) Compulsory Insurance for the duration of my course - About US$45

3) Course deposit - About US$370

This total up to US$565

And at present, she had paid by instalments (every 3 months since enrolled) about US$2200 for the course. So altogether she had paid for about US$2765. I am afraid that she won't make it for the next instalment payment by August 31 as she pretty much used up her savings.

Despite that, she is no longer eligible to apply for any other scholarships and hence, I am posting here to seek donation to help finance her study. She is a very bright student and your kind donations can help her go through this difficult time.

Thank you for your time in reading through this message.
