Raised in Mpumalanga Block B, I was raised by a father who worked in the mining industry and this inspired the choice of my career to be a metallurgical engineer because I always wanted to be his boss so that he stops complaining about back pains and hard labour. He later passed away unfortunately. My widowed mum has already sacrificed a lot to give me opportunities that I wouldn’t otherwise have had, but she couldn’t afford to pay for my tuition fees. I was funded by NSFAS in 2017 but later the university did not submit my results to NSFAS hence I could not be funded any more, although I passed all my modules every year. It was really hard at university, at times I wouldn’t have a place to sleep so I was forced to stay in the 24 hour library. I happy I made friends who managed to somehow help me sleep when I did not have accommodation allowance some months. Not to mention the caretaker who understood my situation. I am desperately looking for funding because I want to continue with my studies in 2021. I will be the only break through at home since I am the only one who went to school and my mom has never worked before. She is only a street vendor and I wish to give her and my little sister better.
