University Living Costs

Hello dear people,

My name is Gustas, I am 18 years of age.

Currently I am a high school student in Lithuania that is due to be enrolled into the Newcastle University.

Studies in the UK have been my main ambition for several years now, and the University of Newcastle has been my main aspiration. When I realised that I am getting into the Newcastle University it was like a dream come true, although there has been one problem that could change everything, and it is a rather big one.

The problem is that I might have to sacrifice the studies because of money scarcity.

I do not come from a rich family. My parents have told me that if I were to go study abroad, they would only be able to support me financially for a very limited period of time, and while doing so they would have to live very, very modestly. Needless to say, I love my parents, and the last thing I want to be for them is a burden.

Due to this adverse circumstance I am asking for €10000 to cover my living costs for the first academic year.

This is probably the most I have ever asked from anyone in my entire life, and this sum, although I tried my best to base it on reason, at first glance, at least to me, does seem ridiculous. However, according to my calculations, the €10000 is the approximate cost for a year of living in Newcastle for a student, i.e. rent, food, transportation costs, etc.

This money would be of an immense help, as I would have an entire year free of hassle in order to find a sustainable job to go along my studies. With a job I would be able to sustain myself while not being a burden for my family, and at last, but for sure not least - I would be able to study without thinking about what I will have to eat to save a dollar on the next day.

I feel like I am obliged to say that I that I would have taken out a student maintenance loan, just like I have taken out a tuition loan, but the maintenance loan is available for the UK citizens only. Sadly, I have been living in Lithuania for my entire life and I am not entitled to such loan.

To conclude, I would like to say that if you would not like to help I do absolutely understand.
