I am a first-generation university student who aspires to pursue further studies and the only inhibition I face is funding. I have already rejected offers from several universities in Canada because of the cost and now I only have one standing offer which I will be forced to reject if I cannot raise sufficient funds. The offer is from Jacobs University in Germany, and after a merit-based scholarship and a generous financial aid offer the remaining amount is 4,000 USD per year for three years, hence a total of 12,000 USD. I know to most of you 4,000 USD per year might not sound like a huge sum but given my family's financial background it is a huge sum to pay.
I graduated from high school last year (2020) in Mombasa from the prestigious Aga Khan Academy with an IBDP Diploma, one of the most rigorous and rewarding programmes. I worked hard and I strived there, I received academic honours on more than one occasion and launched a YouTube channel called "Euler's Fulfillers" intending to help those who face struggles in mathematics. I was also an Executive in Model UN at my school and was responsible for guiding fellow delegates in speech improvement and confidence in public speaking. I also played and represented my school in football tournaments with other schools in the county.
Lastly, I would like to say that education is the only way I can uplift me and my family's standard of living and I am aware that the amount I am asking for is huge but any contribution will be greatly appreciated and will go towards my higher education.
