Hello! I am Pearline. I am from Singapore, and I am crowdfunding in order to fund my university education. I have a great interest in Economics; hence I hope to pursue my studies in the London School of Economics (LSE). After researching about LSE a few years back, being able to go to LSE has been my goal and dream ever since.

My family has never been the richest. I remember once when our electricity got cut after not paying the bills for months, and we lit up candles all around the house to get through the night. While my parents did not save up for my university at all, they taught me to persevere and to fight till the very end for the things that I want. They taught me to lit up candles in the dark and laugh about it, instead of moping around. Therefore, even though my family is unable to sponsor my university education at all, I am still looking to find alternative means of funding. While LSE seems like a faraway dream, I do not want to give it up so easily.

The amount raised from the crowdfunding will all be used to pay my school fees. As an international student, I am ineligible for many of the financial bursaries and have to pay more expensive school fees.

Should I be given the chance to study at LSE, I will also be working part-time in order to cover my living expenses. I also intend to take on a loan to cover the remaining amount for accommodation and flights

I hope that you will feel that your donation is going to someone worthy of it. Thus far, I have initiated a mental health voluntary project in school, where we conducted workshops for recovering mental health patients weekly during our term. I have also started a community of women, known as WomenINVEST, to support one another in their investing journey, with a mission to close the gender investing gap. This community consists of women from diverse backgrounds which include mothers, university students and working young adults. Furthermore, I have also volunteered regularly across multiple different causes, including underprivileged students, elderly living alone, former offenders and the bone marrow donor programme. During my holidays and long break before university starts, I have also worked in more than 5 companies/organisations. I believe in hard work - For instance, in the months of March to April, I worked full-time in the day with an internship, while I volunteered and taught tuition at night every single weekday and Saturday morning. In the month of July, I worked for 3 companies all at the same time. I have been financially independent since Feb this year, contributing to the household bills in the form of phone/electricity bills. Already equipped a heart to serve, I believe that the knowledge I gain from university will definitely equip me with a greater ability to make an impact in this world.

I truly appreciate any amount donated no matter how small :") This is my third time trying crowdfunding, and I truly hope that there will still be a possibility that I can make it there, no matter how small. Thank you so much! I believe in giving back more than what I receive and will definitely give back in the future should you all choose to give me this opportunity to study at LSE.
