UNITED FOR STROEJA 25!

Stroeja needs all friends who believe in the idea and the meaning of the existence of such a place in Bulgaria.

Stroeja has existed since 1997. We’ve been through a lot of difficulties and through many glorious moments, wild and emotional experiences. We’ve met many of you and we were the reason why many of you met with each other. Club or a bar, nevertheless the way people call it, maybe even a second home, Stroeja has become one of the oldest existed and still existing in Bulgaria. Together, we upgraded it from local structure to an idea, which many times overgrew the capacity of it’s physical being. Together we turned it into a local factor - in a promoter with over 300 concerts per year in Bulgaria and in another 6-7 countries in Europe. We have always been long distance runners, we have never given up, nevertheless the cost. Thus we almost reached our QUATER CENTURY. And exactly this is the goal of the current action, for which we are truly asking you to achieve - UNITED FOR STROEJA 25!

The goal of this campaign - UNITED FOR STROEJA 25 - is to support Stroeja in this difficult period by raising the basic level of funds. Let’s live, wait and celebrate the 25th anniversary of Stroeja. There are around 15 months left until the cherished goal.

For yeas Stroeja doesn’t exist for commercial purpose. “Profit” is not a dirty word and it will be valuable to profit from interesting projects, so that can be reinvested, but in our case, from a long time, it hasn’t been a mandatory and main goal. Stroeja just has to be.

The birthdays of Stroeja has always been a joyfully celebrated and awaited event. We couldn’t celebrate the 23th birthday, probably won’t celebrate and the 24th. But let’s do it for “25 YEARS STROEJA”!

*The current campaign will be active for fundraising for a period of more than 3 months - until 10th March 2021, when is Stroeja 24th birthday. If it’s necessary the campaign will be extended or shortened. The raised funds will be used for a past period of 9 months and upcoming period of 15 months - exactly 2 years.

Why do we need help?

We’ve always thought of the fundraising campaigns as an opportunity we could take, because of our positive image and broad support that we appreciate. Just because we’ve received similar suggestions from friends, acquaintances and strangers, who were and still are visitors of the club through all these years, and who know that raising step by step, we could reach a significant amount. Often, the need of a fundraising campaign occurs when there is a cause or a curious idea, which would be challenging to fund or there is a danger of poor return of the investment. However, in order for Stroeja to continue helping causes and investing in music projects and events, and of course to continue being a meeting spot for friends and music lovers, it turned out that we need to start from the most important cause - the SURVIVAL and the STABILISATION of Stroeja during the difficult long months for clubs and bars. Help us, so we could help as well - a variation of “pass it on”!

We are fully aware of the complexity of the Covid19 situation and how dangerous it is for human health and life. For almost a year now we have been complying with the orders and anti-epidemic measures as closely as possible. We were trying to adapt to each change in the requirements even if the changes were each week or new were introduced overnight. The adaptation was difficult but we accepted the challenges. Currently for us this means already 4 months of complete lockdown and 5 more months of working with limited capacity. During these months, in which the club legally could work with visitors, we’ve never allowed more than 50 people inside, having in mind that Stroeja’s usual capacity is 3 times more. In November we’ve even limited the visits until 30 people altogether. These were the requirements but the reality was more severe - during July, August, September and November we worked usually with 15-20 people per day. But we worked! Because we can’t allow Stroeja to disappear! However, these difficult months led to permanent loss-making work and rapid accumulation of new debt. All this with the idea to endure the challenges and to preserve Stroeja until it’s 25th anniversary.

A club like Stroeja, in the business conditions in Bulgaria, also relies to trade agreements for bonuses from importers, manufacturers and distributors, as well as to advertising contracts. The event activity relies to a certain extent on sponsorships. Usually, with regards to the indoor clubs and bars, similar agreements are made or renewed in October. In 2020 this was exactly the month in which the situation worsened, the night activity of the bars was banned and the attendance during the rest of the day was greatly reduced. All this canceled these types of agreements, paused the active ones and cut the club’s budget for planned revenue. We lost many partners such as alcohol, beer and soft drinks companies. These cases of failed agreements totally and definitely destabilised the situation in the industry, from which we are also a part.

The calculated amount that is needed and will significantly help by guaranteeing a solid base for maintaining Stroeja during these two years, is 140 000 BGN. Of course if we manage to fund a bigger amount, it would be an enormous achievement. The raised funds will be distributed among old and upcoming obligations - fixed monthly expenses; rents and utilities; taxes; sustaining the usual condition and function of the team, that we don’t want to lose; maintenance of the equipment and the inventory; etc

Don’t let the amount scare you. It is expensive to maintain a club. The truth is that this amount will cover around 40% of the amount that is needed for the existence of Stroeja in the past 9 months and in the upcoming 15. The survival period is not short - 24 months - or 2 whole years! The history in the UK or Germany for example, knows many cases when a traditionally established and well-known club or a bar was preserved during a critical moment with the help of the community. If it is possible to happen to us as well, it will be only with your support and the support of the unification. UNITED FOR STROEJA 25!

How the raised funds will be used?

90% from the net amount will be distributed for the needs of Club Stroeja:

• Accumulated debts for the past 9 months - from mid March until end of December 2020, including fixed monthly expenses, rents, taxes and insurance (which accumulation endangers the existence of the club, when there are is no income).
• Expected accumulation of current and future debts of the same type for the upcoming 15 months - from January 2021 until March 2022, which endangers the existence of the club, because of the strongly limited income or losses for the same upcoming period.
• Support for the employees of Stroeja aiming to keep the whole team.
• Fund for creation of anniversary book for Stroeja

5% from the net amount will be distributed for:

• Support for musical causes related to new projects and bands (the selection of the specific projects and bands will be made via voting among all funders, regardless the size of the donation)

5% from the net amount will be distributed for:

• Donation for support an infectious Covid19-ward in Sofia

*In order for everything to be transparent, net amount means the balance after the commission for the platform, taxes and budget for realisation of the various gift packages, for which you will find information below.
