Requesting Financial Assistance for Eve Kruger

Eve Kruger is a beautiful, smart, caring, hard working, and incredibly kind and compassionate person. She is very personable and witty, and anyone who knows her has a memorable story or two about her. She is a dedicated girlfriend, loving dog mom, and devoted family woman. Eve puts everything she’s got into whatever she is doing, and always gives her all. She always sees the best in people and is always willing to lend a helping hand to whoever may need it. Eve is truly a remarkable and wonderful person.

Recently, Eve has been facing some very difficult times and some very complex medical challenges. About a year and a half ago, she began experiencing some significant abdominal pains. She went to doctor after doctor with no answers or explanations for the pain she was experiencing. Each month that went on, with no answers or resolutions, the pain grew worse and worse. It wasn’t until late in September that she finally received some answers to what has been causing this severe pain. After an MRI, and multiple other tests and scans, they finally found the problem. Eve had a large abscess within her fallopian tube. There was finally some light at the end of the tunnel after a year and a half of searching for one. This abscess could be treated with antibiotics, and they could drain this abscess by placing a drain within in. Unfortunately, the resolution wasn’t going to be that easy to come by.

Eve was sent home to rest and recover, with the drain in place. However, it wasn’t too long after she returned home that the abscess ruptured. Eve had to be emergently brought to the hospital via ambulance where they then had to perform emergency surgery to remove all the infection that was once kept within the abscess, but now resided within her entire abdominal cavity. During this emergent procedure, they discovered quite a bit of damage from the abscess bursting. Eve unfortunately lost one ovary and fallopian tube. This is especially upsetting to Eve, as she has been wanting and hoping and dreaming of having children with her boyfriend Matt. Thankfully, she still has the possibility to become pregnant, as she still has one ovary and fallopian tube, however, it could become more of a challenge for her.

After the emergency surgery, and removing all the infection, they expected Eve to start feeling better. However, this was not the case at all. Eve was getting worse and worse by the hour. They did some blood tests and discovered that Eve had developed a fungal infection in her blood stream and then herpathology results started to come back from the emergency surgery, and they discovered there was fecal matter within herabdominal cavity. This means that Eve’s colon must have also been affected by everything that happened. Now the medical team was concerned that the reason Eve was not getting any better was because the bowel had perforated (a hole was created in the bowel) and therefore stool was oozing out into her abdomen. Another drain was placed to test this theory and it was proven to be true. They immediately rushed her back into surgery to find this hole in the bowel and fix it before she got any worse. Surgery was unsuccessful. After hours of exploring and searching the entire colon, there was no hole or leak to be found. The surgeons were all hopeful that this hole healed itself and that Eve would finally be on the mend. Unfortunately, this was not the case.

Eve continued to get worse, and more stool was found entering the abdominal cavity. A CT scan with contrast was performed to see if they could determine where the leak was since it was not found in surgery. After viewing the scan, themedical team now felt they could determine where the leak was and planned to take her in for another urgent surgery to perform a colostomy. This procedure is done to reroute the colon through the abdominal wall to allow for the rest of the colon to heal over the course of 4-6 months.Moving forward with the surgery, they rounded up a team of the best surgeons that this hospital had. However, this third surgery proved no different than the one before it, and once again they could not find any source of a leak. The team decided to continue with the plan and move forward with placing the colostomy so that Eve would have the best chance at healing, as all the other evidence proved that there was indeed some source for fecal matter within the abdominal cavity.

Eve remains critically ill in the hospital, recovering from not only 3 emergent surgeries, but also having to adjust to a very different lifestyle for the next foreseeable future. She has lost so much and faced so many challenges over the course of the last month. It has been 25 days in the hospital with still no end in sight. Eve already must plan for another surgery in 4-6 months, to have the colostomy reversed. She has a long road to recovery, healing, and adjustment to now having this colostomy. Thestress of this situation and the time Eve will have to be out from work, healing and recovering, as well as the adjustment to all that has happened to her in the past month weighs very heavily on her. She has struggled for so long for answers, and she has received very few answers to explain why and how this happened. Any support for Eve and her situation is much appreciated. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers as she continues to fight these battles and recover from all she has been through. Thank you. #BelieveinEve
